Spectacular recent issue from Austria

On July 28th, the Austrian postal service issued a spectacular new stamp, which follows the line of spectacular stamps issued once in a while by the Austrian Postal Service. They have a tendency to push the boundaries for traditional stamps, and tend to use a combination of ground breaking printing process and utilize products not normally used in the production of stamps.

[color=#f738a8 !important]

This issue is no different, as it also breaks with tradition. This issue was made in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Austrian Federal Forestry Office, and in order to celebrate the anniversary, the Postal Service decided to make the stamp depict an Oak Tree, which is a indigenous species in Austria. This might not seem special, as many other stamps depict trees, but the spectacular treat here is not the motive, but the material. All the Oak Tree stamps were produced from a single 210 year old Austrian Oak Tree, and the stamps are made of very fine cuts of wood.
The production of the stamps is very difficult, as wood changes, based on the temperature and moisture, making it very difficult to produce similar products. This means that all the issued stamps are unique, using different parts of the Oak Tree for production. The shape of the stamp is made to symbolize the Oak Tree, and the shape is made using laser-cutting technology.
The stamps are denominated at EUR 6.90, and [color=#f738a8 !important]can be found in our Catalogue, as well as with [color=#f738a8 !important]Nordfrim.

Solar Eclipse Issues

On August 21st 2017, a rare event occurred. Throughout America, you could observe a solar eclipse take place, and the path of totality crossed the country. This allowed millions of people the chance of a truly spectacular experience, as they saw the Moon gradually block out the Sun, until the Moon was directly in front of the Sun, resulting in a total solar eclipse.

If you missed the total solar eclipse, you wouldn't want to wait for it in the same spot, as the time between total solar eclipses in the same area, is around 375 years. With the event being so rare, it is no wonder that the event has been hyped as much as it has.

In celebration of the Solar eclipse, the United States Postal Service issued a Total Eclipse of the Sun Forever stamp on June 20th this year.

[color=#f738a8 !important]

The stamp shows the Total Eclipse of the Sun, where the sun is completely blocked out by the moon, so the only thing visible is the light crowning around the Moon.
The stamp is made using thermochromic ink, which is heat-sensitive. If you heat up the center of the stamp by rubbing a finger on it, the black ring will change color into the image of the full moon, as seen in the picture above. It should be noted that the thermochromic ink is not UV resistant, and should be kept out of direct sunlight in order to keep the color-changing abilities. The stamp is denominated as a Forever stamp, and can be found in the [color=#f738a8 !important]Stampworld Catalogue.

Another issue was also made this summer in celebration of the Solar Eclipse. This one is from Alderney, and the issue containing the six stamps shown below was issued on July 19th.

[color=#f738a8 !important]

The six stamps depict the solar eclipse as seen from six different places around the world, the places being Vancouver in Canada, Miami in USA, Hamilton in Bermuda, Dakar in Senegal, Saint Anne in Alderney, and Anadyr in Russia. The stamps are themochromic as well, and change depiction when exposed to heat. They should also be kept out of direct sunlight. The set of stamps can be found in the [color=#f738a8 !important]Stampworld Catalogue.

Beautiful recent issues

[color=#f738a8 !important]

Ukraine - Flora and Fauna from the Black Sea:
On may 22nd, the Ukrainian postal service issued this souvenir sheet in a joint issue with the Bulgarian postal service. The issue features the flora and fauna of the Black Sea, and the stamps depict the short-beaked common Black Sea dolphin, and the Barnea candida mollusc respectively. Both of these are native to the Black Sea, and are part of a rich marine wildlife. Although the marine life is rich, it is not very diverse. The reason for this lies in the fact that the Black Sea is relatively secluded from other large bodies of salt water, and as a consequence, the river-water that runs into the Black Sea, dilutes the salt content in the water. The salt level in the Black Sea is roughly half of the level seen in ocean around the world. This means that a wide range of animals and plants cannot live in the water, and hence the number of species is limited.
The wildlife is rich as a consequence of the flow of river water, bringing an abundance of nutrients to the ocean. The two stamps in the sheet are denominated at N and E respectively, and can be found in the [color=#f738a8 !important]catalogue. The Bulgarian version can be found [color=#f738a8 !important]here.

Spain - The 60's Generation:
Last year, the Spanish postal service started a series of issues, representing the past decades, and this year they have produced issues for the 1960's and the 1070's. Our focus will be on the issue of the 60's.
[color=#f738a8 !important]

The issue has four stamps in a souvenir sheet, and the four stamps depict an event that shaped the world, which occurred in the 1960's. The events on the stamps have been selected by collectors, and have been determined by vote.
The four events are in chronological order: The Kennedy assassination in 1963, The first heart transplant in the world in 1967, The May 1968 student revolt in France, and the Moon landing in 1969. All of these events had a lasting impact on the world, and have played a large role in shaping the world as we know it today. The stamps are denominated between € 0.50 and € 1.35, and can be found in the catalogue [color=#f738a8 !important]here.

Apart from writing his own poetry, János Arany was also famous for his translations of classic pieces of literature into Hungarian. For instance he has translated three of the most well-known Shakespeare dramas into Hungarian - Hamlet, king John, and A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Canada - 50th anniversary of Formula 1 in Canada:[color=rgb(247, 56, 168) !important]
Formula 1 has always been a big thing in Canada from the very beginning in 1967, when the first Canadian Grand Prix took place. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Formula 1 racing in Canada, the Canadian postal service issued a commemorative set of stamps, featuring 5 great drivers from different periods. Though the drivers competed at different points in time, they all played a large role in the development of Formula 1 as we know it today. The five stamps depict Sir Jackie Stewart, Gilles Villeneuve, Ayrton Senna, Michael Schumacher, and Lewis Hamilton. The risks of racing becomes evident, when you take the faiths of two of these drivers into account - Villeneuve and Senna. Both of these were fan-favorites, and both ended their lives in fatal crashes in a Formula 1 racer. Many of the safety features in the current racers are consequences of these tragic accidents.
Of the five racers depicted, only Lewis Hamilton is still active. He is in the prime of his career, and holds a wide range of records, and list can only be expected to expand in the coming years.
The stamps are denominated at the domestic rate in Canada, and are here seen as a pane of five stamps. The stamps can be found in [color=rgb(247, 56, 168) !important]our catalogue.

What is particular is, that the scenes are all reflected on a body of water, producing spectacular views.
[color=rgb(247, 56, 168) !important]
The scenes on the stamps are from all around the globe with almost all the continents represented, and such diverse places as USA, Tanzania, Madagascar, and Japan. The stamps are denominated at the priority rate in France, and can be found in [color=rgb(247, 56, 168) !important]our catalogue.
